Diversity
We are committed to eliminating discrimination. We aim to ensure that no one experiences discrimination of any kind as a result of gender, relationship status, sexual orientation, race or ethnic origin, age, disability, religion or political beliefs.
Actions taken include:
- Impact assessment training for staff
- A Diversity action plan
- Victim database has been updated and minority ethnic information is now accessible
- An audit of disabled staff and staff with special needs has been completed and forwarded to the National Probation Directorate
- Information on regulations concerning faith, religious beliefs, and sexual orientation has been circulated to all staff
- Members of Diversity in Practice attended training to work with racially motivated offenders.
- Offender programme timetabling now takes account of religious festivals as recommended by the Faith/Religion and Sexual Orientation regulations (December 2003)
- Impact assessments have been carried out on identified policies including recruitment and selection policies.
