Community Payback

The principle of making unpaid work benefit the community in a more visible way was strongly supported by government Minister Baroness Scotland. It was she who suggested the name 'Community Payback'.

People across Cambridgeshire benefited from over 100,000 hours of compulsory unpaid work in 2006 and we expect even more hours to be worked in 2007.

Each team is overseen at all times by a supervisor. The offenders must turn up on time and must not miss a session without an acceptable reason. Whilst on the placement they must behave well and work hard. We assess the project for suitability and for health and safety implications.
